  • Continue your journey to the spectacular island commune of Mont-St-Michel. At one point, the island was only connected to the mainland by a tidal causeway. However, recently more permanent structures were built, and in 2014 a new bridge was erected – which makes access to and from this UNESCO world heritage site far more reliable
  • Uncover stories from hundreds of years of history during your visit today. Parts of the old imposing central abbey at the top of the island date back to 708AD, and additional Gothic and Romanesque buildings popped up across the island up to the Renaissance period. Wonderful little shops, houses and museums line the main street, many of which date back to the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. After a memorable exploration of the island, get back on the road and travel to a chateau for the night

Perhaps take a stroll in the sprawling 80-hectare garden, or take a dip in the outdoor heated swimming pool
  • Travel into the Loire Valley to visit the grand country house of the Chateau de Villandry. The chateau houses an incredible three-level set of formal Renaissance gardens. These include a water garden, where fountains abound and the sound of water creates a tranquil atmosphere; the ornamental flower garden, in which box hedges designs symbolize the many different forms that love can take, passionate, tragic, and tender; and finally a kitchen vegetable garden, an ever-changing scene of seasonal flowers and vegetables
  • Overnight at river-side 18th Century Manor

  • As one of France’s most diverse wine regions, here you can savor everything from crisp whites to punchy reds. The main grapes grown in the Loire range from Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and Melon de Bourgogne (or Muscadet), to Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Grolleau
  • Afternoon at leisure
  • Overnight at Manor

Includes: Private tour / Loire Valley Wine Tasting / Room, Breakfast, & Taxes

  • Today you’ll travel north to the Chateau de Fontainebleau

This is, of course, one of the most elaborate and beautiful palaces in the country, the interior is an excellent example of the French Renaissance style. The surrounding forest was the perfect place for royal hunting excursions, and in the 16th century François I decided to make it his principal residence, building on the remains of a 12th century castle. While neglected during the time of the French Revolution, it returned to its full glory during the time of Napoleon I
